What is X Video Transcript?

X Video Transcript by Voqusa places a small Transcript chip below every video post on x.com. Click the chip and the extension transcribes the video and displays the text inline — in the timeline, not in a separate panel — so you can read the transcript without leaving your feed. The extension is thread-aware: if a post quotes or replies to another post that contains a video, Voqusa detects the nested video and offers to transcribe it in the same inline view. This makes it especially useful for following fast-moving news threads where video evidence or clips from press conferences are quote-tweeted repeatedly.

How to Install

Open the Chrome Web Store listing for X Video Transcript by Voqusa (link above) and click Add to Chrome.
Click Add extension to confirm. The extension installs in a few seconds.
Navigate to x.com and scroll your home timeline or open any post containing a video. A small Transcript button appears below the video player.
If the button does not appear, reload the X tab — X's client-side routing sometimes requires a hard reload for the content script to attach.

How to Use

Go to x.com and find any post containing a video — in your timeline, in search results, or on a profile page.
Click the Transcript button below the video. Voqusa transcribes the video in the background and inserts the text as a styled inline block below the post.
If the post is a quote-tweet or reply that also contains a video in the quoted/replied post, a second Transcript button appears for the nested video. Click it to transcribe that video in the same inline view.
Click Copy with URL to copy the transcript text plus the direct x.com post link — useful for citing video content in reports or newsletters.
To save to your Voqusa swipe file, click the save icon in the inline transcript block.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the extension work on X Spaces (audio rooms)?

X Spaces are live audio, not video, and use a different streaming architecture than video posts. The extension does not currently support Spaces transcription. To transcribe a Spaces replay, share the replay link and paste it into the Voqusa web app at voqusa.com.

Why does the Transcript button sometimes disappear as I scroll?

X's feed uses virtual scrolling — posts are removed from the DOM when they scroll out of view and re-added when they come back. Each time a post re-renders, the extension re-attaches the Transcript chip. There can be a brief moment where the chip is not visible as the post re-mounts. This is a DOM lifecycle issue specific to X's rendering architecture; it does not affect the transcript data, which is cached in the extension's memory for the session.

Can I transcribe videos in X direct messages?

No. The extension only injects into the public timeline, search, and profile page views. It does not run inside the DM interface. To transcribe a video shared in a DM, right-click the video and copy the URL, then paste it into the Voqusa web app.

The transcript chip appears but clicking it does nothing. How do I fix this?

This usually means the extension's background service worker has gone idle (Chrome terminates idle service workers after a few minutes). Click the Voqusa icon in the Chrome toolbar once to wake it, then try the Transcript chip again. If the issue persists, go to chrome://extensions, find X Video Transcript by Voqusa, and click the reload icon.
