How are the timestamps decided?
Each caption's duration is based on reading speed (about 16 characters per second), clamped to a sensible minimum and maximum, with a small gap between captions. A 64-character caption, for example, displays for about four seconds. The result is natural pacing you can still fine-tune in any subtitle editor afterwards.
